[edit] Description
This is a deck from Paris made in the first half of the 17th century by an unknown cardmaker. This deck has many stylistic differences from the Marseille style decks and from the Tarot of Jacques Vieville which are from the same period.
Each card has a border of 2 rows of alternating black and white squares. The trumps have at the top in Roman numerals their number value in a panel between 2 facing lions, while at the bottom there appears the title of the card in French with many misspellings. In the court and pip cards, both at the top and bottom (opposite from the case of the trumps), there appears the number again in the small square between the facing lions.
The original deck from which the photoreproduced deck is made is kept in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
