Born in 1945, Rachel has also had a major influence in a number of areas outside of Tarot.

She is also an accomplished science fiction and comic writer.

Amongst her best known works are the comic book Doom Patrol, in which she dealt with topics such as menstruation, sexual identity and transsexuality. Her other writings include contributions to New Gods, the Geek, Time Breakers, and Vertigo comics.

Her science-fiction novels explore a number of traditions and religious faiths.
